The hardest part of a long Claude conversation is often not getting an answer. It is finding the answer again.
You might remember that Claude explained a bug, wrote a useful function, compared two approaches or produced the final wording you liked. But after forty more turns, that message is somewhere above you in the scrollback.
Message bookmarks solve that small but repeated problem.
What to bookmark
Bookmark messages that are likely to matter later:
- final answers
- accepted plans
- working code snippets
- explanations you want to cite
- decisions and tradeoffs
- requirements gathered during the chat
- drafts you may reuse
You do not need to bookmark everything. The value comes from choosing messages that become landmarks.
How ClaudePack bookmarks work
ClaudePack lets you bookmark individual user or Claude messages. Saved bookmarks are visible later, and you can jump directly back to the saved message.
Bookmark data is stored locally in browser extension storage. ClaudePack does not need a ClaudePack account or backend to provide this.
Bookmarks and long research chats
Research conversations sprawl quickly. You might ask for background, follow with definitions, compare viewpoints and then ask for a final synthesis.
Bookmark the synthesis. Bookmark a strong caveat. Bookmark a list of source types or questions to verify. That keeps the useful structure visible even when the chat keeps growing.
Bookmarks and developer chats
Developer chats benefit from bookmarks because implementation conversations often include multiple false starts. Bookmark the final diagnosis, the patch that worked and any command output interpretation that matters.
Later, you can export the chat or fork from a bookmarked area with less scrolling.
Bookmarks are not folders
ClaudePack bookmarks are intentionally lightweight. They are for returning to specific messages inside Claude, not building a full knowledge base. That restraint keeps the extension focused and local.
